escargot, pastries, and boeuf bourguignon

Here's some food from during Sarah's visit. The boeuf bourgignon we decided to make one rainy afternoon, using an Anthony Bourdain recipe. We also made gratin dauphinoise to go along with it, which is basically potato gratin. It all turned out very well, and when Eric got home he proclaimed it to be excellent, which we figured was the best we could possibly do, coming from a real Frenchman and all. I also got to buy a new pot because of the whole thing, which I was very excited about. What can I say, I like kitchen accessories.

  1. I love this post it reminds me of Julie & Julia. Have you seen or heard of that movie yet? Do American movies play in France? Would you post the recipe I want to cook this for Dave. And I also want an excuse to buy a new pot ; )

  2. I've been hearing about that movie for about a year now, ever since I finished reading Julie & Julia, but so far I haven't found it playing here yet. There are all sorts of American movies here all the time but nobody here really knows who Julia Child is apparently so this one doesn't hold much interest for the French audience. I might have to rent it. Did you see it? I think I'm comfortable with Meryl Streep as Julia; she seems like she'd do a nice job.
